Xiaomi, the popular Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has officially launched its latest Redmi Note 12 Pro smartphone in Pakistan. The Redmi Note series has always been one of Xiaomi’s best-selling lines globally due to its excellent specifications at affordable price points. Let’s take a deeper look at the key specs and features of the new Redmi Note 12 Pro and see how it stacks up in the Pakistani market.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro comes with a glass front and back design with a plastic frame in between. This provides a premium look and feel while keeping the weight manageable at 187 grams. It is available in Frosted Blue, Onyx Black, Polar White and Stardust Purple color options.
Moving to the front, the Redmi Note 12 Pro sports a large 6.67-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. This results in a sharp 395ppi pixel density. The display is equipped with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support for vivid colors and contrast. It can reach up to 900nits of peak brightness using HBM mode which makes it easily viewable even under direct sunlight. The 120Hz high refresh rate panel provides buttery smooth scrolling and interaction. An important addition is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection against scratches and cracks.
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 12 Pro in Pakistan packs the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset with octa-core CPU and Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. This ensures flagship-level processing for all tasks. It comes in multiple RAM and storage configurations – 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB. Storage is of UFS 2.2 type for faster read/write speeds.
In initial benchmark tests, the Redmi Note 12 Pro scored over 490,000 on AnTuTu which is highly impressive given its price point. Geekbench 5 scores were also decent at around 2200 for single-core and 2370 for multi-core performance. This level of hardware is more than enough for casual to intensive mobile gaming, streaming multimedia, and multi-tasking with several apps running simultaneously.
For photography duties, the Redmi Note 12 Pro features a capable triple rear camera setup. It consists of a 50MP primary sensor with f/1.9 aperture, PDAF, and OIS support. This is joined by an 8MP ultra-wide shooter and a 2MP macro lens. On the front, housed in a centrally located punch-hole cut-out is a 16MP selfie snapper.
Video recording capabilities include 4K video recording at 30fps, 1080p video at 30/60/120fps and 720p slo-mo videos at 960fps. Additional camera features include HDR, AI scene detection, portrait mode, panorama, night mode and RAW image support. Based on initial user reviews, photo quality appears to be quite impressive for the price range with good dynamic range, colors and low light performance.
The 4000mAh battery capacity on the Redmi Note 12 Pro should easily last a full day of moderate to heavy usage on a single charge. Xiaomi has outfitted it with excellent 67W wired fast charging that can replenish 50% in just 15 minutes according to official claims. This is much faster than most rivals in the mid-range segment. Other features include dual SIM support, fingerprint reader, infrared blaster, USB-C, 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers.
Given the phone’s outstanding set of specifications, pricing is very competitive in Pakistan. The 6GB+128GB base variant is available for PKR 55,999. The 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB models retail for PKR 57,999 and PKR 59,999 respectively. Finally, the top 12GB+256GB configuration will set you back PKR 38,999.
Overall, the Redmi Note 12 Pro seems like a phenomenal package offering flagship specs at an affordable mid-range cost. Its 120Hz AMOLED display, powerful Dimensity 1080 chipset, versatile triple cameras, and blazing fast charging are some highlights. With outstanding value for money and Xiaomi’s wide service network in Pakistan, the Redmi Note 12 Pro has the potential to be another best-seller for the brand in the country.
